We encourage you to watch our State of the Markets webcast with a guest Panelist from JP Morgan. It covers many of the important, fundamental topics that investors should be focusing on at the moment. Soon to be available on our Youtube channel.
Times Like Now Are Why We Diversify
- US stocks are all down more than -10% now. But International and Emerging markets stocks are still positive. Bonds are up over 3.5%. Even real assets (things like precious metals, real estate, and infrastructure stocks) are showing low correlation to US stocks.
- Entering 2025, valuations of US stocks were already considered very expensive, and a correction of -10% was widely expected. Tariffs sparked volatility in Mid-February.
- The reasons driving the volatility are dynamic and will almost certainly evolve further. Markets will adapt and companies will find new ways to innovate.
Stay Invested
- Missing even a few of the big “Up” days can have a substantial impact on your end result.
- We are more often in Bull markets than Bear markets.
- Volatility is going to happen. It’s just part of being an investor. It can be nerve-wracking, like it feels right now. Excuses to not stay invested and threats to optimism happen all the time and are not unique to any time period.
Let Planning Be Your Weapon
- The best way to deal with volatility is to plan around it.
- Know what your goals are, control the inputs that you can, educate yourself, and leave the emotional parts of investing to us.
